Hudd Lit Fest Mini-Fest

The Huddersfield Literature Festival had to cancel the majority of live events due to the Coronavirus outbreak, but some will be replaced by a mini-programme of online author readings, Q&As and creative writing support.

Details on these events are available on their social media and website, as well as information about some of the rescheduled events.

Bettys Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

Many of you would have planned to take your mother to Bettys for afternoon tea, but social distancing may have put a dampener on those plans this year.

But the coronavirus isn’t going to stop a time hounoured tradition.

For the first time in their 100-year history, Bettys is providing an order and collection takeaway afternoon tea service. With freshly made cakes and sandwiches, and a scone with jam and clotted cream, it’s a perfectly pretty and delightfully delicious take-home treat for mums, couples and families.

It could well be a good time to treat yourself and there a few finer places to find such things than at Dumouchel Patisserie is Garforth Leeds.

They have a collection system in place as well a local delivery service for a number of bakery delights as well as ready meals.



Wine and Deli delivery in Yarm

Fourteen Drops has a free local delivery service on all wines / spirits and cheese and charcuterie platters.

They are also busy working on a range of hampers with some little luxuries to get through isolation.

We like the idea of a picnic in the lounge!

Sadly the parlour in at High Jervaulx Farm, Masham is shut for the time being, but the work continues in the factory.

While customers can still be pick up their products in a number of stores they’re looking forward to a time when we can enjoy their new 2020 flavours.

Imagine trying their new Blackcurrants & Clotted Cream outdoors in the sun? That’s something to look forward to.

Free meals for local NHS workers in Huddersfield

Award-winning Huddersfield-based Punch Bar and Tapas restaurant is giving away 200 free meals a week to local NHS workers – and their families – for three months.

Uno Cucina, Krafty and Punch – are temporarily shut following government advice so they turned their attention to provinding a weekly changing menu, NHS workers will be able to choose from a range of family dishes.

NHS staff are invited to complete an online registration form to receive a link to make their menu selection, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Delivery service for local coastal communities

The ShopAppy.com platform enables local businesses in the Yorkshire Coast region to sell products and special packages in one place online. Yorkshire Coast residents can order from local independent shops, restaurants via the ShopAppy delivery partners and receive same-day home delivery for the next three months or buy E-vouchers to use at a later date.

Online gin classes

Slingsby Gin’s mixologist Mark is going to be live on Instagram and Facebook on Saturday 21st March at 6pm offering a free Gin masterclass.
