Kent Wildlife Trust’s Wildlife Study Days
Kent Wildlife Trust’s extensive programme of Wildlife Study Days is designed to help the people of Kent discover, appreciate and learn more about the amazing wildlife that surrounds them.
From budding botanists to enthusiastic bird watchers, there’s a course to suit everyone. The Trust aims to create an informal, relaxed and adaptable atmosphere in which participants can improve their knowledge at their own pace while enjoying the company of those with similar interests.
The study day programme has been developed over 17 years and in that time has covered a growing number of subjects and attracted 6,360 participants.
Courses, led by experts in their fields, are usually limited to 15 participants and are normally held ‘in the field,’ often on local nature reserves and mainly at weekends.
A new short course this year is the Fenland Wildlife and the Beaver Project in June, a rare opportunity to visit Kent’s last remaining fenland, with the exciting possibility of seeing beavers in the wild.
The Botany for Gardeners weekend, taking place this month, is an opportunity for those who would like to learn more about the classification of their garden plants. Or try June’s Geology Weekend in Kent course, where participants will compare the geology of Folkestone Warren with that of Pegwell Bay.
All proceeds from the study days go towards the wider conservation work of Kent Wildlife Trust. n
Course information
Course fees are usually £26 per day and £21 for senior citizens, students, the unemployed and those who volunteer for Kent Wildlife Trust.
