Best foot forward to raise funds
Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust invites you to join up for a fundraising challenge
Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, working in partnership with Discover Adventure, is seeking adventurous people to take part in a 23-mile, three-day trek along the Ridgeway trail from August 21-23. Starting near the 3,000-year-old White Horse of Uffington, you will walk through shady woodland, grassy meadows and open rolling hills, dotted with Iron Age forts, sarsen stones and ancient burial mounds. There are plenty of hilly stretches but your efforts will be rewarded by wonderful views across beautiful rural countryside. Your goal is prehistoric Avebury, one of the largest stone circles in Europe, where there you will have time to enjoy the amazing atmosphere of this World Heritage Site. The Ridgeway is a great stretch of countryside to explore - and this is only possible because landowners and people passionate about the countryside have fought for centuries to keep it connected and open to all of us. This philosophy is key to the work we're doing at Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust through our Living Landscape projects as we work with landowners and other conservation bodies to create and link wildlife corridors for the benefit of wildlife and people. The money you raise through the challenge will help protect wildlife and wild spaces across Hertfordshire and Middlesex. It will also help fund our work in re-connecting fragmented habitats, allowing wildlife to thrive there once more. So join us and make this your year to take on a challenge for HMWT.
