A fantastic video highlighting the amazing road cycle routes in the Yorkshire Dales National Park has just topped 3,000 YouTube views

The four-minute-long film, which features world-renowned cycling commentator Phil Liggett, was made for the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to showcase the huge choice of routes on offer in some of England’s most spectacular scenery.

It was launched last Wednesday to coincide with the confirmation of the Tour de France Grand Départ route next year that will see the world’s top cyclists battling it out as they ride through the Yorkshire Dales.

Since then it has been watched by people across the globe, from South Africa to Canada.

Keen cyclist Nick Thwaite, the Authority’s Member Champion for Recreational Management, said: “The video has captured the attention of audiences world wide, which is fantastic – although it’s not surprising considering what this National Park has to offer.

“The fact that it has attracted so many views in such a short space of time emphasises just how much interest there is in cycling in this beautiful part of the country.

“Obviously the Tour de France Grand Départ is fantastic news for all the businesses and communities in the National Park in 2014. This video helps to show what is there all year, every year for everyone from professional cyclists to mums and dads out for the day with their children.”

The light-hearted video has been produced by North Yorkshire-based Fridge Productions and features a group of riders cycling along sections of the Grand Départ route – ably assisted by a group of extras that includes rock climbers, some sheep and a Border collie.
