This award celebrates one of the nation’s favourite dishes and one which Somerset does so well. Whether it’s a pub, a hotel or a restaurant, we wanted to know who is serving a cracking roast dinner with traditional trimmings, locally sourced meat and fresh seasonal vegetables.

The Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about Somerset and the future of our local environment.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Best Somerset Sunday Roast’.

This year’s finalists

The Babbling Brook

The family run Babbling Brook, situated at the foot of the Quantock Hills, offers a range of meats with a good variety of seasonal vegetables. Cooked ‘the way mother used to do them’, the traditional Sunday lunches also include gluten free and vegetarian options and with three meats to pick from each week, visitors truly are spoilt for choice.

The White Horse Inn, Mark

This gorgeous country pub in Mark is home to what our readers describe as ‘the best Sunday Roast ever!’. With homemade condiments, juicy melt-in-the-mouth meats and local fresh vegetables- including an amazing cauliflower cheese- The White Horse offers a menu that caters for all tastes and ages, prepared to perfection.

And the winner is…

Clavelshay Barn, North Petherton

It’s clear a lot of care goes into creating a special experience. Superbly cooked local meat, great roast potatoes, excellent English mustard and the best Yorkshire puddings the judges have eaten in a restaurant – and cooked by a Frenchman!

The Best Somerset Sunday Roast is sponsored by Yeo Valley
