A new restaurant at Crow Wood Hotel and Spa Resort will soon cause a stir on the county’s dining scene

You could never accuse the team at Burnley's Crow Wood Hotel and Spa Resort of resting on their laurels. Since this luxury destination was first launched, they have not stood still, constantly reinventing the business. Their efforts have been rewarded with stellar reviews, visitors in their droves and multiple awards that have put them on an international stage as well as becoming a place treasured by the local community.

Their latest project will no doubt do the same. The £12.9 million expansion of the site will include a 76-bedroom hotel, banqueting hall and function rooms. A lynchpin of the new ultra luxury scheme will be a new family-friendly restaurant - the perfect complement to the adult-only space next door at The Woodland Spa.

Wilfred's Restaurant and Bar will be headed up by the same talented team who run the award-winning Bertram's on the same site, with a kitchen brigade led by executive chef Spencer Burge.

The restaurant will serve up contemporary food and drink with a slant towards Italian cuisine. Delicious meals from local grass-fed aged steaks and Mediterranean-style fish dishes to stone baked pizza and handmade steak burgers will be on the menu.

'It will be a place for discerning diners to take their families for somewhere wonderful to eat,' said Justine Cooke, marketing manager. 'Children will be well catered for - there will be a fabulous pirate ship just outside the restaurant. But it will also be a quality place for parents and all members of the family to enjoy a meal. It's also the first time we've been able to offer pizza which we think will be popular.'

But there will also be plenty for any kind of diner. It is hoped the new cocktail bar will become a venue to enjoy for after work drinks or a night out with family and friends.

Wilfred's, which is nearing completion, will be a standalone venue with its own entrance, designed to send the message it is just as much a destination restaurant as it is a place for hotel guests to dine in. There will be elegant décor, floor to ceiling windows and a terrace to wile away an afternoon on during the warmer months.

'We are creating a luxury experience in the heart of Pennine Lancashire and we want people to love coming here,' said Justine. 'With the Crow Wood Leisure Centre and Woodland Spa adjacent, there is so much to do here. But if you also just want to sit and soak up the countryside views on the terrace, or enjoy a cocktail or two at the bar, we can make this a special experience at Wilfred's.

'We are going through exciting times and it is so wonderful to see it all come together. We cannot wait to start welcoming people.'
