Chris White, Chef Owner, is delighted to announce that The White Spoon was last night announced as the overall winner in the New Restaurant of the Year category of The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards 2016.

These national awards recognise and reward the hospitality industry’s leading talent across all sectors of the industry. There were 17 award categories ranging from young and apprentice chefs to pub and restaurant chefs, and also recognising specialist sectors.

The judging process for New Restaurant of the Year saw committee members of the Guild visit and review the total dining experience at each of the four category nominees. The winner was announced at the award ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel on 1st June 2016.

Having opened in September 2015, owners Chris White and Purdey Spooner are honoured to have won this award. Chris said:

“We are over the moon and couldn’t quite believe it when they announced that we had won, we are so humbled considering the stiff competition we were up against. Although the award may have my name on it, it is truly a team effort, and it really is down to the hard work and dedication of the management, kitchen and front of house team as a collective. In addition we owe thanks to both our family and friends who have supported us to date. Also not forgetting our customers who keep returning. We are looking forward to the future as we continue to build on the solid foundations we have laid in the last 10 months.”

The restaurant offers an exceptional standard of food, in a relaxed atmosphere. Chris brings to The White Spoon a passion for local produce and suppliers. His menus demonstrate a passion for showcasing the diversity of ways in which ingredients can be prepared and enjoyed.

Dishes include Newlyn Brill, Potato Gnocchi, Albarino Grapes, Leek, Langoustine Powder and for the sweet tooth Wye Valley Rhubarb, Saffron Custard, Olive Oil Biscuit. In November 2015, The White Spoon featured in The Times Food List – 25 best new restaurants in Britain.
