The inaugural Plymouth Property Ball at HMS Drake was a huge success. The whole event including a raffle and grand auction, run by Chris Forrest of King Sturge, raised in excess of �10,000 for Plymouth's St Luke's Hospice
The inaugural Plymouth Property Ball, held on 9th September at HMS Drake under the very appropriate title of “An Indian Summer” given recent weather conditions, has been a huge success.
The whole event including a raffle and grand auction, run by Chris Forrest of King Sturge, raised in excess of �10,000 for Plymouth’s St Luke’s Hospice.
Guests from Plymouth’s property, legal and financial community were wined, dined and thoroughly entertained with a Plymouth Gin reception, buffet supper, Bollywood dancers and a live band, the A38’s
Co-organiser Yvette Benn of Woollcombe Yonge was thrilled with the result.
“The auction was supplied with some excellent prizes by HMS Drake, Ocean BMW, Elfordleigh Gold Club, Michael Spiers, Neal Hiscocks, Princess Yachts International Ltd and Jo Baker Pond,” she said. “Chris Forrest made an excellent auctioneer, and the guests were extremely generous with their bidding.”
Along with her fellow organisers Andrew Bullivant of King Sturge and Robin Falle of Stratton Creber Commercial, Yvette is sure that the event will now become a regular part of Plymouth’s charitable scene.
“Government funding covers less than 30% of the annual costs of St Luke’s Hospice, leaving the organisation to raise at least �3.5 million a year to carry on its vital work.” said Andrew Bullivant of King Sturge. “We’re very pleased that the generosity of the guests at the first Plymouth Property Ball has contributed so magnificently to this total, and look forward to doing so again in the years to come.”
A cheque for the money raised will be presented to St Luke’s by Yvette, Andrew Bullivant and Robin Falle in the next few days.
