Places to eat and drink in Painswick
Take a step back in Cotswold history with a trip to the traditional bistro at the Cardynham House Hotel. On the menu is a selection of tasty dishes that include plenty of locally sourced ingredients. The cosy interior and friendly service are a charming addition to the experience and the bistro feels homely as soon as you walk through the door.
The tinkling bell above the front door announces your arrival at The Patchwork Mouse Café and a delectable journey starts from there. Take a seat in a comfortable armchair with a good read, and savour a delicious cupcake or a slice of something nice. There is a selection of teas on offer but if you’re more of a coffee enthusiast, there are lattes, americanos and cappuccinos on the menu too. Afterwards, take a walk around the café’s gallery where the exhibitions are forever changing.
Yet another mention for The Falcon Inn as the dining experience is just as good as the hotel. From a hearty cooked breakfast, to light lunches and supper by candlelight, they cover every meal time of the day with some of Painswick’s most tasty cuisine. If it’s a quick pint you’re after, the bar has friendly clientele and it stocks a fantastic selection of real ales.
Things to do in Painswick
The only complete Rococo garden in England is in the grounds of Painswick House. These pleasure gardens were designed in the 1740s for Benjamin Hyett and his guests to indulge in lavish garden parties.
