Dogs Trust Ilfracombe is looking for volunteers to help with the charity, and is hosting a volunteer evening on 23 September.

If you are passionate about dogs and would like to help out with the charity then visit the Trust at 5.30pm on 23 September to find out about volunteering opportunities at the Rehoming Centre.

Although the charity has a dedicated team of staff, Dogs Trust also relies on the support of its volunteers to help give hundreds of unwanted and abandoned dogs the care they need while they await new homes. The Trust is home to over 60 canine residents, so there is always a lot to be done.

Volunteers are vital to the smooth running of Dogs Trust Ilfracombe and the Rehoming Centre currently has a variety of roles available, from Kennel assistants, who are needed for the day to day tasks such as cleaning, walking, grooming, and just generally getting to know the dogs a little better, to home visitors, where the charity relies on volunteers for their local area knowledge to visit potential new owners.

There is also a Home From Home Scheme, if you have experience of animal foster care to temporarily house the more vulnerable dogs, as well as positions as an Events Volunteer to help out at various local centre events, and off site dog walkers.

Rogan Quinn, Assistant Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe says: “Volunteers are extremely important to us as a charity and we couldn’t care for as many dogs as we do without their help. We are always on the lookout for new recruits and really hope these exciting opportunities will appeal to a wide range of people. All volunteers will have full training to help them get to grips with their new roles and will get to meet plenty of furry friends along the way. If you think you could spare some time to lend a hand, please get in touch.”

If you are interested in volunteering but can’t make the evening, then contact the trust on 01271 817209 or visit the centre at West Down. Ilfracombe, North Devon, EX34 8NU for further details. Also visit their website.
