Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm 'Press your own'

Back by popular demand, Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm's free to use apple mill and press is making a return this autumn! Last year it is estimated that two tonnes of apples were pressed by members of the public and £390 of donations were given to Cornwall Community Foundation through the activity.

This event will put hundreds of apples to good use and prevent them from rotting and going to waste. With use of the fruity haul, people can make 18 litres of apple juice in around 30 minutes. The spare pulp will also be used to feed the animals at the farm!

Visitors can make up to 30 pints at the authentic Cornish working cider farm, but if that's not enough, there will also be cyder making kits available for purchase at the farm shop.

There's no need to worry if you don't have your own apples either, crates of apples will be available to buy from the farm during the harvest season.

Joe Healey, Commercial Director at Healeys has commented:

Apples are our passion and this project helps continue the apple life cycle further. Not only do you get fresh apple juice which can be made into cyder, but the pulp can be used to feed animals like the pigs and goats we have available to visit at the farm."

Apple enthusiasts can also find out more about what goes into making the cyders on a cyder making tour. They can also taste over 20 different drinks in Healeys farm shop to help create their own perfect pints at home.

After all the action from the day, pressers can head up to the Mowhay Tea Rooms for a famous homemade afternoon or cream tea, or lunch in The Old Bottlery Restaurant accompanied by a Healeys pint.

For the braver explorers, there will be an optional scare section - The Locker of Davy Jones. This area is for Halloween thrill-seekers, just be careful not to succumb to the perils of the sea.

Visitors will be tasked with a treasure map which will lead them through the experience. You will need to use your adventurer skills to search high and low for clues and end up with the pirate treasure.
