HERITAGE TRANSPORT SHOW & AUCTION SET TO HOST A CENTENARY

Saturday 9th April10am – 4pm

With less than a month before the second Heritage Transport Show and Auction the organiser Kent County Agricultural Society, is delighted with the number of vintage vehicles that will be attending.

This year the event which will be held on Saturday 9th April will feature the ‘M & D 100’. Arriva, who took on the old M & D company has transformed one of the current fleet and the bus will have the old Maidstone & District livery. This bus can be seen over the next few months around Maidstone and will be a nostalgic reminder to many residents who travelled to and from work on these buses.

Eurostar has donated the star raffle prize; tickets to the continent, Paris Lille or Brussels depending on the winner’s choice. Lucy Hegarty, event co-ordinator said “we are really pleased that the Eurostar has donated such a wonderful prize. We also have tickets to the cricket in Canterbury, a Kentish Hamper and tickets to the County Show in July”.

Lambert and Foster, Auctioneer based in Paddock Wood, is once again holding a sale of tractors, commercial vehicles, cars, steam, related equipment and memorabilia. There will be two auctions, one for vehicles and one for memorabilia, taking place at 11am and 1pm.

Visitors to the event will be able to listen to a number of guest speakers; Andrew Clarke will be talking about old, iconic businesses from Maidstone, such as Trebor Sharp, Whitbread and Clarkes Furniture. Peter Love will take his audience on a journey, travelling the world in search of old vehicles. Former M & D Managing Director, Roger Davies and the former Engineering Manager will be taking a nostalgic look back at this wonderful company.

Admission for the event, open from 10am – 4pm, will be 5.00 and under 12’s are free. For more information please contact the Kent Showground on 01622 630975.
