AWARD WINNING LIBRARIES AT HAZLEGROVE

Hazlegrove Prep School is delighted that their Lower School Library has joined an elite group of school libraries that have achieved the honour of being awarded “Model Library” status by Renaissance Learning.

The school is very proud to have two “Model Libraries” now, as last year Hazlegrove’s main library also earned this accolade. These awards recognise the school’s commitment to raising reading standards significantly, based on measurable results.

Hazlegrove is a keen supporter of Renaissance Learning’s acclaimed Accelerated Reader Advantage program. The school has seen marked progression in reading and comprehension standards since the program was initiated in 2008. The commitment from the whole of the Hazlegrove staff is key to the successful implementation of the programme, as they provide an environment that encourages reading for pleasure.

The aim of the Accelerated Reader programme is to help pupils achieve their full literacy potential by combining key elements of baseline assessment and personalised reading practice. It promotes reading for pleasure and encourages pupils to use reading to learn. It motivates pupils of all ages and abilities not only to read more, but also to read more appropriate books. It is designed to raise literacy standards, fostering a lifelong love of reading.
