This month it’s all about wrapping up for a winter walk then snuggling down on the sofa with a virtuous glow – here’s how to stay warm and look cool

Paula says …

Winter may be your excuse not to shave your legs, leave your toes unpainted and eat as many carbs as you can lay your hands on. But it’s no excuse not to invest in those winter warmers that keep out the chill and make you feel cosy inside and out

Luxe fabrics (cashmere, velvet, fur, merino), hardy knits, butter-soft leathers and quilted waterproofs are all the name of the game in this harshest of seasons.

To give your wardrobe an instant winter pick-me-up, a printed knit will not only keep you in line with the fashion pack, but also toasty on those long dog walks. Wrap an oversized, plain wool or cashmere-mix scarf around your neck, add skinny or straight-leg jeans, wellies or fur-lined boots and you’re good to drag Fido over the fields in style.

The return of the bobble hat has made geek cool again – and another trusty blast from the past is the cape, great for layering underneath, roomy enough for bulky jumpers, flattering and comfortable.

Although black is always an option for the dark-haired beauties among us, tan or soft chocolate is always more flattering against the skin. Just make sure you keep your bottom half streamlined when choosing a cape over a winter coat and that your arms are covered appropriately.

The furry Yeti boot, my footwear of choice at home, might make you look slightly more Beast then Beauty, but when we are lounging on the sofa with a jumbo-sized bar of fruit and nut, comfort wins over style!

Have a fashionable and warm January
