Want vibrant skin that everyone will notice over Christmas? Our editor Charlotte Skidmore may have found just the thing

Many people in Somerset and beyond have heard of Kelly Hooper. She’s built herself a respectable reputation over the years for her knowledge and expertise in the health and beauty world and has worked closely with Dermalogica for a decade on developing skin care.

Now Kelly, who owns The Barn in Loxton, has come up with her very own, unique facial; the Supercharged Skin Treatment.

It’s called supercharged as it takes every element of a normal facial (cleanse, tone, exfoliate, mask) using Dermalogica products and combines them with the use of equipment at every stage to give it that extra boost and depth of treatment.

The Super Charged Skin Treatment is a non-invasive treatment that promises to leave clients with dramatic results. It targets advanced signs of ageing, fine lines and wrinkles, elasticity and firmness, skin texture, oily and congested skin, skin tone, vibrancy and pigmentation.

Each facial is customised to a client’s needs but typically includes the use of microcurrent, microdermabrasion, LED lamps and other equipment.

I have to admit that I was slightly nervous when I heard words like microcurrent and I imagined myself jumping like an idiot from the feeling of electric shocks during the facial. But I entrusted myself to Kelly’s care and fear not, this is absolutely not the case. In fact, as well as giving you a fabulous complexion, the treatment is also relaxing at times. I have to admit that whilst I was under the LED lamp having a hand massage, I did find myself back in Corfu, lying on the beach with the Med lapping at my feet – not drizzly Somerset as it was at the time.

The results: I’ve had many facials but none have given me what this one gave me – my skin was actually glowing. It was as though I had applied a highlighter to my skin and my cheeks were so smooth, they felt like velvet. As I walked around the supermarket afterwards I felt everyone should be able see how good my skin looked. And even if they didn’t, I felt really good and could see a huge improvement in my skin elasticity and fine lines.

The treatment is very different to the facials I’ve had before – it’s not so much centred on making the person relax and drift off into an hour of bliss, but concentrates very much on the end goal – and you can tell Kelly exactly what you want that end goal to be.

If you want to glow for the festive party season, give it a chance. The results speak for themselves, I say!
