Carr Greens wasn't created in a laboratory or dreamed up in a boardroom. It began around a Cheshire kitchen table, where three old school friends with entirely different backgrounds - a surgeon, an entrepreneur and an international oil industry engineer - spent countless breakfasts, evenings and weekends debating ideas, testing formulations and solving problems together.
What started as a search for a natural deodorant that genuinely worked became something much bigger: a business built on friendship, persistence and the belief that the best things are created by people prepared to put in the hard yards.
The Cheshire-born novelist Alan Garner had a lot to say about Cheshire, a county that doesn't ask to be admired. It simply gets on with being beautiful and there are some businesses that could only have been born in one place. Carr Greens is one of them.
Inspired by the landscapes, communities and quiet confidence of the Cheshire countryside, the natural deodorant brand has grown by doing something refreshingly simple: creating a product that works, treating customers well and staying true to the values that shaped it from the very beginning.

Its founder, Andrew Harris, knows a thing or two about hard work. Growing up on a Cheshire farm taught him that the best things in life are rarely complicated. You work hard, you look after people, and if you're going to make something, you make it properly.
Those values stayed with him as he left farming to study medicine, eventually becoming a hospital surgeon, working long, demanding hours where reliability wasn't a luxury – it was essential.
"Variety is what keeps me interested," says Andrew. "One day I'm operating on someone, the next I'm working on the next formulation of Carr Greens. I enjoy solving problems, whatever form they take."
Like many people, Andrew wanted to use a natural deodorant that was kinder to the environment. The problem was that the products he tried either irritated his skin or simply didn't perform when life became busy and stressful. Long days in theatre quickly exposed the difference between products that sounded good and products that actually worked.
Rather than accept the compromise, he decided to create something better.
After countless formulations and hundreds of test batches, Carr Greens was born — a natural deodorant designed to combine effective all-day performance with naturally derived ingredients that are kind to skin.
But Carr Greens was never a one-man story.

Andrew joined forces with two old school friends, each bringing completely different experience to the business. One had built a successful e-commerce company, another worked as a directional driller on international oil projects. On paper it was an unlikely partnership; in reality it became one of the company's greatest strengths.
"We all approached problems differently," Andrew says. "The endless phone calls, emails, Sunday breakfasts at my house, testing formulations, debating ideas and putting the world to rights over a pint in the local pub – that's where Carr Greens really came together."
People often asked why they never took the business to Dragon's Den.
"Of course the investment and expertise would have been attractive," Andrew laughs, "but where's the soul in that? Building something together, working through the difficult bits, learning from mistakes and celebrating the small wins – that's what creates a business people genuinely care about. I wouldn't swap that journey."

That same philosophy still defines Carr Greens today.
"It wasn't about creating another fashionable wellness product," Andrew explains. "It was about solving an everyday problem for people who simply wanted a deodorant they could rely on. It's only deodorant – it needs to work, be accessible and then get out of the way so people can get on with their lives."
While many modern brands compete to shout the loudest, Carr Greens has quietly built a loyal following by focusing on quality, trust and consistency. The Cheshire countryside is more than simply a backdrop; it has become part of the company's character.
Andrew believes there is something distinctive about Cheshire itself.
"Its rolling fields, leafy lanes, historic villages and thriving rural communities represent a way of life that feels balanced and well considered. It's a county that values craftsmanship over fashion, substance over show and quality without unnecessary fuss."
Those same principles — honesty, integrity and craftsmanship — continue to guide every decision the company makes.
The ingredients are thoughtfully chosen. Manufacturing remains proudly British. Packaging is recyclable. Every decision is tested against one simple question:
Does this make life easier for our customers?
That commitment recently led Carr Greens to undertake one of its biggest customer research projects to date.
Thousands of customers were invited to share what they thought about the product, the subscription service and where they would like the business to go next. The response was remarkable, with customers generously giving their time to explain not only what they liked, but what they wanted Carr Greens to become.
The findings confirmed something reassuring.
People weren't looking for another beauty product or another environmental statement. They wanted a natural deodorant that works, feels comfortable on the skin and fits effortlessly into modern life. They valued flexibility, good value and buying from a business they could trust.
Andrew personally wrote back to every respondent to thank them for helping shape the future of Carr Greens, reinforcing a simple belief that listening to customers is one of the most valuable investments a small business can make.
In many ways, those priorities mirror the rhythm of life across Cheshire itself.

Whether you're running a family home, managing a business, commuting into the city or enjoying retirement in one of the county's beautiful villages, life is busy enough without having to think about everyday essentials.
That's why Carr Greens has made buying as straightforward as using the product itself.
Customers can buy whenever they choose or opt for a flexible subscription that removes one more task from an already busy life. Unlike many subscription services, customers remain completely in control. Deliveries can be paused, skipped, changed or cancelled whenever circumstances change.
"It's designed to be helpful, not restrictive," says Andrew. "It's a small difference perhaps, but it reflects our wider philosophy. Products should fit around people's lives, not the other way round."
As Carr Greens continues to grow, its ambition remains refreshingly modest.
“The aim isn't to become the loudest brand in the room. It's to become one of the most trusted. To continue making a product that people recommend to family and friends because it simply works, while remaining rooted in the county that inspired it and supporting local communities along the way,” concludes Andrew.
Perhaps that's why Carr Greens feels so naturally at home in Cheshire.
It's a business built on true values that have never gone out of fashion: honesty, hard work, thoughtful craftsmanship, friendship and quiet confidence.
From the Cheshire countryside. Made for modern life.
