Big names announced for Chipping Norton Literary Festival

This year’s ChipLitFest boasts an impressive line-up of names from the media and literary world

Chipping Norton Literary Festival has lined up big names from the media and literary world for 2018, including BBC Radio 2 stars Jeremy Vine and Liza Tarbuck. Other well-known faces include Terry Waite, journalist Robert Peston, and ‘Pointless’ presenter and comedian Richard Osman.

Lionel Shriver, author of We need to talk about Kevin will be at the Chipping Norton Theatre on Friday, April 27. Fiction writers include Rachel Joyce, Kit de Waal and Rachel Seiffert.

In celebration of the NHS at 70, health is a hot topic, including discussions on the search for a cure for Alzheimer’s, and the life of a heart surgeon, while comedian and commentator Adam Kay will talk about his experiences as an NHS medic.

Food is on the menu with the author of Dinner with Dickens, and Afternoon Tea with Guardian writers Lucy Mangan and Laura Freeman, whose extraordinary The Reading Cure documents how books helped her recover from illness.

Nature writing is popular at ChipLitFest, and this year’s names include Adam Nicholson (The Seabird’s Cry) and Tom Cox (21st Century Yokel).

The fun-packed children’s programme features returning authors including Abi Elphinstone, Nadia Shireen and Korky Paul.

ChipLitFest runs from April 26-29.
