How Suzannah Harvey has helped transform Cotswold Airport into one of Britain's most unique destinations.
From its beginnings as the former RAF Kemble to becoming one of the UK's leading privately owned airports, Cotswold Airport has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past 25 years.
Today, it is far more than an airport – it is a thriving business hub, a centre for sustainable aviation innovation and an increasingly popular destination for events, weddings and visitors to the Cotswolds.
Purchased from the Ministry of Defence by Ronan Harvey in 2001, the airport has grown into a vibrant community of more than 100 aviation and engineering businesses, supporting thousands of jobs across the region and handling more than 36,000 aircraft movements each year.
At the heart of that success is CEO Suzannah Harvey, whose leadership over the last 20 years has combined commercial ambition with a genuine commitment to the local community and the values that define the Cotswolds.
"I've always believed the airport should be part of the fabric of the community," says Suzannah. "We're incredibly proud of our aviation heritage, but equally proud to support local charities, businesses and organisations that make this such a wonderful place to live and work."
That philosophy is evident across the airport. Alongside business aviation and aircraft engineering, Cotswold Airport is home to pioneering aerospace companies helping to shape the future of sustainable flight, while historic aircraft continue to preserve its rich aviation heritage.
Away from aviation, Suzannah's passion for the Cotswolds is reflected in her support for country sports and rural life. A keen polo enthusiast, she has helped forge a new partnership with Cirencester Park Polo Club, with one of its premier grounds now renamed the Cotswold Airport Meadows Ground.
"For us, it's about bringing together two organisations that share a passion for excellence, heritage and hospitality," she says. "Both attract visitors from across the UK and beyond, helping showcase everything that's special about the Cotswolds."
The airport has also become an increasingly sought-after venue for weddings, corporate events and community celebrations. Couples can exchange vows against the backdrop of iconic aircraft such as the Negus 747 Boeing, businesses can host conferences in a truly memorable setting, and thousands of visitors attend annual open days celebrating aviation history and innovation.
With continued investment planned in hangarage, infrastructure and sustainable aviation, Cotswold Airport is firmly focused on the future while remaining true to the family values that have guided its success.
