A picturesque tiny Cotswolds lodge across the Oxfordshire border designed by a celebrated British antiques expert is up for sale at £1 million.

Barton Meadow Lodge, a converted one-bedroom barn on the edge of Guiting Power in Gloucestershire, has been transformed by renowned antiques dealer and interior designer Christopher Howe and is now up for sale.

Mr Howe is one of Britain's best-known antiques dealers and is the founder of Howe London, a business specialising in furniture, antiques and interior design.

Over the years he has built a reputation for creating elegant country homes that blend historic pieces with natural materials and traditional craftsmanship.

The lodge sits within nearly five acres of land near the village of Guiting Power, one of the most sought-after locations in the Cotswolds.

According to reports, the property's owners initially bought it as a temporary retreat while renovation work on their Berkshire home took longer than expected.

Mr Howe was then brought in to redesign the building, turning it into a stylish countryside escape.

Despite measuring just 840 square feet, the home has attracted attention for its carefully curated interiors and picturesque rural setting.

The renovation reportedly took around eight-and-a-half weeks to complete.

Mr Howe stripped back the interiors before introducing many of the design features for which he has become known, including lime-washed timber, antique furniture, textured fabrics and a bespoke Plain English kitchen.

The designer has previously said he is not interested in creating homes that feel overly perfect or precious.

During the renovation, builders reportedly covered newly laid oak flooring with protective plastic, only for Howe to insist it be removed so work could continue normally.

French doors open from the property onto gardens and wildflower meadows which lead down towards a brook, helping create a strong connection between the home and the surrounding countryside.

Estate agents describe the property as a rare example of a home where every detail has been carefully considered while still maintaining a relaxed and natural feel.

The lodge is being marketed for £1 million and comes with planning permission restricting its use to a holiday home rather than a full-time residence.
