Everyone who registers a journey on the CarShareDevon website, sending a request to share, between now and 30 November 2015 will be entered in the draw to win a tank of fuel, up to the value of £100.

CarShareDevon matches drivers and passengers from across the county who are doing the same or similar journeys. The website allows you to search for others travelling in the same direction as you, who are either looking for a lift, or offering a space in a car.

You can use the easy on line calculator to estimate how much you could be saving on a daily and annual basis. For example if you shared your 20 mile daily commute with just one other person, you could save over £600 and 790kg co2 per year.

Register today and join over 11,100 people who are already reaping the benefits of sharing their regular journeys, whether this is to work, or study. On top of the financial savings, car sharers often remark on the social benefits of meeting new people and making new friends.

Previous winners of the win a tank of fuel competition include Jayde Kirby who travels daily from Plymouth to Exeter. She found three car share buddies through CarShareDevon and now enjoys a much cheaper and more sociable commute to work.

Jayde said: “I joined CarShareDevon when I was offered a new job at the University of Exeter and needed to commute daily from my home in Plymouth. I was very concerned about the fuel costs of an 80 mile round trip, five days a week, so signed up a few weeks before I started my new position. I soon got replies from people also travelling the Plymouth to Exeter route and from there quickly came across my three car share buddies who were already sharing.”

Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said: “People who have started sharing their commute to work through Carsharedevon.com really notice the savings they make on the cost of fuel.

“The website is really easy to use, and with more than 11,000 members it’s the best way to find others who are regularly make the same journey who could share the cost. Sharing with just one other person halves your travel costs, and if you find a couple of people to travel with, you will be getting your fuel cost down to about 38p a litre. When you consider on top of this all the parking charges that you could share, can you afford not to join CarShareDevon? Car sharing is also an important means of reducing congestion along some of the busiest routes in Devon.”
