Get outdoors this October half term and enjoy a day out at RHS Garden Rosemoor
There is a whole week of workshops and activities for everyone to come and take part in. From pumpkin carving, monster trails and scary storytelling to children’s workshops and heavy horses, there is plenty on offer to suit all ages and interests. It is also a great time to visit the garden in all of its autumnal glory.
On Saturday, 25 and 26 October travel back in time and watch Tom and Joey, the stunning heavy horses, as they help remove Spruce trees from the Lower Woodland using the traditional horse drawn extraction method. This method ensures the trees are removed as delicately as possible to cause as little disturbance to the important habitat underneath. The enormous tree trunks can weigh up to half a ton each, but Tom and Joey make easy work of it as they tow them to the top.
25/26 October (10am-3pm) - Pumpkin and Woodcraft Weekend
Come and see the making of traditional crafts such as wood turning, carving and whittling, basket weaving and spinning.
After taking a carve your own pumpkin workshop (supplied at £1 each), you can enjoy the Pumpkin Trail around the garden followed by learning how to cook pumpkin based dishes in afternoon cookery demonstrations.
