A Hampshire coastal resort has been named among the top 25 coolest places to live in the UK, according to a new survey.

Southsea featured in 21st place on this list from the health and wellbeing brand Naturecan.

Locations were ranked according to the number of independent shops per head of population, the range of cultural events, how ‘Instagrammable’ were the best features and their popularity as a location for films and TV shows.

Naturecan polled 5,000 people with panels in each county and you can view the top 50 coolest places on their website.

What does Southsea have to offer?

On its Visit Hampshire page, it says: "The coastal resort of Southsea has traditional British waterfront charm, with a fresh air of trendiness brought by the increasing number of independent shops and eateries that now reside in this special slice of seaside England."

The beach and the promenade are obvious selling points, but the culture brought by the shops and restaurants helps to elevate its status.

There's also a bit of history to explore here in the underground passages of Southsea Castle, which was built under the reign of Henry VIII.
