House prices in Southampton have risen by an average of more than £2,000 in the month of July, according to figures from the Land Registry.

The latest data from the government department reveals that in July 2023 average house prices in Southampton reached £247,649.

This was up from £245,217 in June, representing a 1 per cent increase, whilst in the last 12 months it has gone up by 2.2 per cent.

How much have house prices increased in Southampton?

Breaking it down for specific types of housing, all prices saw a slight increase:

  • Detached houses - Up to £436,737 from £432,335 in June
  • Semi-detached houses - Up to £312,521 from £309,142 in June
  • Terraced houses - Up to £256,486 from £253,327 in June
  • Flats - Up to £170,093 from £168,808 in June

How do Southampton house prices compare to the UK average?

As of July 2023, the average house price in the UK is £289,824, and the index stands at 152.0. 

Property prices have risen by 0.5% compared to the previous month, and risen by 0.6% compared to the previous year.

Therefore house prices in Southampton are still below the national average.
