TOMKINSON TAKES THE HELM

Lymington's culinary scene is poised for an exciting new chapter with the arrival of acclaimed chef Matthew Tomkinson at the helm of Stanwell House's renowned Samphire Restaurant.

Boasting more than two decades of experience at some of the country's most esteemed kitchens, Chef Tomkinson brings an impressive pedigree to his new role. His illustrious career has seen him garner Michelin stars at two separate establishments, alongside multiple industry awards, including the coveted Roux Scholarship.

Having held his first Michelin star at The Goose in Oxfordshire, Chef Tomkinson's recent successes include the critically acclaimed relaunch of The Hambrough's restaurant on the Isle of Wight, where he demonstrated his adept leadership skills. Prior to that, he held the esteemed position of Chef Patron at Betony at The Kings Head, Whiteparish.

Hampshire holds a special place in Chef Tomkinson's heart, evident in his ten-year tenure as Executive Chef at the Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu. Winning the restaurant's coveted Michelin star, alongside three AA Rosettes, here he solidified his reputation as a master of refined cuisine.

At Stanwell House, Chef Tomkinson will now oversee all food and beverage operations, leading the kitchen team, leveraging his creative vision to craft menus that celebrate the finest local ingredients. Diners can anticipate fresh seafood from the coast, succulent cuts from New Forest farms, and an array of seasonal produce sourced directly from Hampshire's bountiful larder.
