Ramsgate Week is widely recognised as the friendly regatta and the alternative to Cowes, and for 2023 has reverted back to the school holidays in an effort to attract a younger crowd of sailors.

Ramsgate Week has been going for more than 150 years since the Royal Temple Yacht Club moved from the Temple Steps on the Thames in London and came to Ramsgate. In all that time the regatta has only been cancelled for two reasons. Once due to World War II when the Club was requisitioned by the Royal Navy and was known as the shore based HMS Fervent where planning was carried out for the Dunkirk rescues. The other time was due to Covid in 2020.

This year there will be four Cruiser classes, two IRC classes plus a Classic class subject to entries. All classes start and finish lines will be off the pierhead making for a great spectator spectacle.

The week kicks off with the famous Round the Goodwins Race, a tough race but widely recognised as an iconic race. All yachts return to the Royal Harbour after racing and are moored up together in a competitors area. The central meeting point is the balcony at the yacht club and the apres racing stories are then told in abundance. The town is a five minute walk from your berth and Ramsgate is well known for it's variety of bars and restaurants.

The IRC classes will also participate in the 2023 RORC IRC East Coast Championship between August 9-11.
