One south-east London pub has just received some very exciting news as its been named as a finalist for a huge national award.

The Kings Arms in Bexley is among six finalists in the running to be named best city/urban pub by the Great Britsh Pub Awards.

Plus, The Kings Arms has also been named as a finalist for the category, of best pub for entertainment.

The much-loved local is popular for its great range of drinks, fresh food and regular live music.

Now the Bexley-based pub is hoping to add two trophies to the bar shelves as it takes on pubs across the country.

Bexley Pub up for national pub awards

The Great British Pub Awards are held annually and this year saw a record number of entrants, seeing the select finalist's spots become even more coveted.

Bexley's Kings Arms will be taking on fellow London-based pubs The Audley Public House in Mayfair, The George IV in Chiswick and The Turk's Head in Twickenham for best city pub.

Whilst in its second nominated category of best entertainment, it will go head to head with The Phoenix Arts Club ibn Soho alongside four other nominations.

The Kings Arms is regularly praised, with a Tripadvisor rating of 4.5/5 and recently being awarded a travellers choice badge by the review site.

With a roof terrace that gives the public house a unique twist, many visitors give the staff praise as one reviewer wrote: "Staff were amazing, especially as they were run off their feet."

But one element of the Bexley pub that seems to be the most popular is its Sunday roast, as a user wrote: "We went there to try their Sunday roast and we were not disappointed.

"We had the beef and pork, both were delicious. The gravy, mash, vegetables and of course the meat were all cooked well and came with great flavour."

The awards will be held in Manchester on September 19 and will see a special celebrity, yet to be named, host and hand out awards.
