Kent Community Foundation marked its 25th anniversary with a celebratory evening drinks reception at the Turner Contemporary in Margate, an event which brought together fund-holders, supporters and community leaders from across the county.
Earlier in the day, the foundation welcomed grantees and voluntary and community sector colleagues for an afternoon event focused on connection, shared learning and the collective impact of local giving – setting the tone for a day rooted in community and collaboration.
The evening celebrations began in memorable style, with a samba band drumming outside the gallery while inside, supporters gathered to reflect on a quarter-century of philanthropy that has helped strengthen communities throughout Kent and Medway. Speeches from Catherine Glover, chief executive, Robert Sackville-West, chair of trustees, and The Lady Colgrain, Lord-Lieutenant of Kent, highlighted the foundation’s long-standing commitment to place-based philanthropy – funding that is rooted in local knowledge, responsive to community need and focused on long-term impact.
They also spoke of the vital role fund-holders play in enabling grassroots organisations to thrive.
In addition, guests were impressed by performances from members of Shepway Voices Choir, alongside a photography display showcasing 25 shortlisted images from the Foundation’s Community in Focus competition, supported by Warners Solicitors.
Together, the celebrations looked back with pride – and forward with purpose – to the role local philanthropy and Kent Community Foundation will continue to play in supporting Kent’s communities..
