As the year begins, there are few better ways to embrace winter than with a restorative escape to the Cumbrian countryside. Nestled in the north of the county in the historic Debatable Lands, Pentonbridge Inn offers a quietly luxurious retreat where exceptional food, thoughtful hospitality and a sense of place come together effortlessly.

Until the end of March, guests can enjoy 20 per cent off Pentonbridge Inn’s Dinner, Bed & Breakfast experience, making it an ideal opportunity for a midweek winter break. Available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the offer invites guests to slow down and savour the season in one of the premium rooms.

The experience includes an evening meal from the eight-course tasting menu, showcasing the precision and creativity of Head Chef Chris Archer and his Michelin star, three AA Rosette team. Much of the produce is sourced from the walled garden at nearby Netherby Hall, just three miles down the road, ensuring freshness and a strong connection to the local landscape. Menus evolve with the seasons, celebrating the richness of the Cumbrian larder while allowing each ingredient to speak for itself.

The atmosphere is relaxed and unfussy, striking a careful balance between refinement and comfort. After dinner, guests can retire from the glow of the dining room to one of the cosy yet stylish bedrooms, each designed as a calm and indulgent retreat. Inspired by the Debatable Lands of England and Scotland, the rooms echo the surrounding landscape through soft organic tones and natural textures such as wood, slate, tweed and tartan.

Thoughtful touches, from fluffy towels to a welcome treat from the kitchen, ensure a luxurious night’s rest, with several rooms offering the added indulgence of a deep bath alongside a walk-in shower.

After a restful night in one of the cosy rooms, guests wake to a perfectly cooked breakfast with local teas and coffee, rounding off a stay designed for comfort and ease.

Looking ahead to spring, Pentonbridge Inn is also preparing to launch an exciting new Friday Supper Club this March. Running weekly from 6–7pm, the club offers diners the chance to sample a two-course Michelin-starred menu for £50 per person. It’s dog friendly too!

Whether you’re planning a peaceful overnight escape or simply looking ahead to new reasons to visit, Pentonbridge Inn continues to offer something special, season after season.
