Immerse yourself in nature for an Easter egg hunt at Harrogate’s RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Easter eggs of all sizes will be waiting to be discovered by explorers keen to unearth the hidden treasure. Perfect for all ages - little ones can put their best foot forward on the egg-citing trail while adults can breathe in the wonderful sights and sounds of spring.

Step out

There’s a guided walk to Calvary on Good Friday – that’s Ilkley’s Calvary and Middleton woods. It’s a folly in a tree-surrounded avenue which leads between carved-stone Stations of the Cross to a shrine adorned, over the years, with simple makeshift wooden crosses. A 3.5-mile guided walk with Barbara Walker starts at 11am at Ilkley Manor House on field and woodland paths and along country lanes.

Experience George Frideric Handel’s glorious Messiah performed by the Choir of York Minster in the cathedral’s awe-inspiring nave, alongside an orchestra and world-renowned soloists. From the sorrowful tones of He Was Despised to the jubilant culmination of God’s triumph in the Hallelujah chorus, Handel’s Messiah explores the Easter story. Powerful choruses with soaring harmonies crash over the audience and poignant soloist pieces narrate the story of Easter.

The art of yarn

Get crafty for an Easter Crochet Workshop at Knaresborough’s Yarn Etc shop under the expert eye of a tutor. So if you can crochet a granny square and fancy trying your hand at something different, this is for you. All materials are provided (just bring a 3.5 and 4mm hook) to create bunny bunting, crochet eggs and tiny chicks! Have a ball, not just of wool, with coffee, cake and creativity.

Indulge in all things chocolate at a festival in York. Parliament Street in the City becomes home to a chocolate heaven. Making a return this year, this is a must-visit event for chocolate lovers. Sample treats from a selection of stalls offering chocolate in all its forms. Easter goodies for all the family and demonstrations from chocolatiers showing you their talents with all things cocoa!

Light up

Wax lyrical at a candle making workshop where you can take away your very own Easter aromatherapy candle to relax with back at home. Bowery Visual Arts in Leeds will guide you through making a handmade soy-wax candle using essential oils. All materials are provided and you can take your pick of oils for their aroma or aromatherapy qualities to make two candles in amber glass jars.

Branch out

Create your own Easter wreath to brighten up your front door or adorn your dining table as a centrepiece at a weekend workshop. Bowery Arts Centre in Leeds is holding a class to guide you through the whole process from wiring moss to create the wreath’s base to letting your creative side come out when finishing it with ribbon and spring foliage.

Market mooch

Stroll through the gardens and grounds of Ripley Castle on Easter Sunday and take a look at all the wonderful products on offer. The Castle’s Courtyard welcomes a fantastic line-up of local producers and makers. As well as a broad selection of stalls selling food and drink, there will also be locally produced non-food goods. Entry to the Estate grounds and gardens is free on Market days so go and explore!

Giant knits

A new craft space in Ossett is invites you to make an Easter wreath - a knitted one! A Touch of Craft is hosts the event at their Springfield Mills venue. No knitting or crafting experience is necessary - this is suitable for absolute beginners. Using ‘Mammoth’ yarn from Woolly Mahoosive you can let your imagination run wild to create a knitted wreath with add pom poms, ribbons and any other decoration that take your fancy.

Suds galore

Create your own sweet smelling, cruelty free, soap at a workshop in Malton. Cosy Cottage Soap open the doors for an event where you can make your own palm oil free soap. Make six bars of your own signature blend. soap. Using vegetable oils and waxes, the tuition will take you through the process and you can add your own blend of essential oils, dried flowers, fruits and exfoliants.

Fancy an indulgent Easter event that includes both chocolate and wine? Then take a look at what’s on the menu at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Leeds whihc hosts a seasonal Chocolate and Wine Pairing event. Savour the flavour of six bean to bar chocolates alongside six perfectly paired wines.

The decadence will include six Michel Cluizel chocolate discs enjoyed suitably complemented with wine.

Crafty days

The beautiful market town of Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales hosts Wensleydale Craft Fair over the Easter Bank Holiday providing the perfect excuse for a day out and browse among the stalls.

From 10am until 4.30pm each day, the show will welcome visitors to enjoy a wide range of high-quality handmade crafts and art products crafted by local and regional artisans. At The Market House, admission free.
