The Mackaness family took over Rudding Park, Harrogate, in 1972, transforming the Grade I-listed country house into a much-loved luxury hotel, spa and golf resort, with plans for decades to come

Rudding Park has unveiled a thoroughly Yorkshire golfing adventure on its estate, which celebrates the county and marries the hotel’s heritage with that of the Dales, Moors and coast.

In the five decades since the heritage house was bought by the Mackaness family, the house and its grounds have been transformed into a hospitality, culinary, wellness, golfing and leisure destination.

Certainly 2026 has proved a year to remember with a Michelin star awarded to FIFTY TWO at Rudding Park, headed up by chef Adam Degg.

The restaurant, which uses produce from the extensive kitchen garden on the estate was one of 20 venues across Great Britain and Ireland to receive a new one-star rating this year, following the guide’s annual review by Michelin inspectors.

And the new Yorkshire golfing adventure marks yet another milestone for the destination.

The Great Yorkshire Golf Adventure is a new playful, story-led experience that celebrates the county’s most famous legends, landmarks and icons through an immersive 18-hole golf adventure.

Opened on Yorkshire Day in August, the experience – aimed at families, friends, visitors and golfers – blends adventure, discovery and friendly competition celebrating the people, places and moments that have shaped Yorkshire. From Vikings and Guy Fawkes to York Minster, Whitby, Theakston Brewery to the Yorkshire Dales and beyond, every hole tells a story.

Created as the flagship experience within the new Gimme Golf destination at Rudding Park, The Great Yorkshire Golf Adventure is a first for the county.
