Student musicians are hosting a concert to raise funds for Help for Heroes
The students of the University of Exeter are hosting a charity music event this June, which they hope will raise much-needed funds for the Help for Heroes charity.
ExTunes is the umbrella organisation for all 35 music societies on campus. The group has just under 1,000 student members who come from a diverse cross-section of the university’s academic courses.
As 2014 is the centenary of the Great War, the members of ExTunes want to round off their academic year by presenting an evening of music on the theme of war and its effect on humanity.
This has resulted in the creation of War Song, an evening of a varied programme of music to be performed by members of ExTunes.
You can expect epic military film scores, moments of remembrance, music reflecting the nation’s mood in the First and Second World Wars, and some original compositions showing what war means to young people today.
The event will take place at the university’s Great Hall on Sunday, 8 June at 6pm. All proceeds from ticket sales and retiring collection will be donated directly to Help for Heroes who have fully approved the performance as an official Help for Heroes fundraising event.
