The dapper Sevenoaks Rugby Club fan shares his love for silk-lined tweed jackets and waistcoats

Tell us a bit about you

I am an international specialist intelligence and security consultant, specialising in political corruption, anti-money laundering and cross-border fraud. In the UK I do pro-bono work in child protection.

I’ve been married for 17 years to Jules and our twin boys, Tyler and Logan, have both just won scholarships in academic and sport categories at Caterham School. We live in Brasted, a pretty village on the A25, which I like because the area reminds me of where I come from in rural Oxfordshire.

About three years ago I stopped working in the field and became part time to spend more time with my boys at the build up to a crucial part of their education.

Now they are educationally set for the next few years, I am hoping to take my skipper’s license this year, which will allow me to captain smaller commercial vessels.

Your hobbies and interests?

I love cooking, diving and walking, but my passion is Sevenoaks Rugby Club. I have been a keen supporter and volunteer for the past three years and both Tyler and Logan play for Sevenoaks Junior under 13’s.

The club is one of the biggest in the south east and we are a very close ‘family’ with a strong ‘one club’ ethos. We have some amazing people doing what needs to be done at the club on a volunteer basis and their passion is what makes the club brilliant. We currently have more than 500 mini and junior rugby players.

What are you wearing?

I had always been like most people when it comes to clothes, bowing to the pressures of big names and designers, buying things that didn’t suit me and in doing so crushed my own real image of what works for me.

About five years ago I decided to take responsibility for my own wardrobe! I researched both known and unknown designers and began to buy clothing and shoes that I felt good in.

This outfit is a bit special, it’s my ‘power’ outfit, the one we all should have in our wardrobes that gives us confidence and makes us invincible in the world of fashion.

I am wear wearing a boating-style jacket which is Part of the Ted Baker Limited Edition global range. I love this jacket and it has to be one of my favourites, beautifully crafted with a velvet collar and harlequin-patterned silk lining. The thing that is great about this jacket is that it gets noticed!

I had my waistcoat made to order by www.tomsayerwaistcoats.co.uk and the quality and price for what they do is quite amazing. My biggest passion is rugby, so I commissioned Tom Sawyer to make me a rugby-themed waistcoat. It tells people something about who I am without them having to ask me first.

My shirt is also Ted Baker, a lovely Egyptian cotton one, my jeans are Diesel (I have about six pairs) and my belt is Tommy Hilfiger; I also wear Hilfiger denim too.

I only wear smart trainers, desert boots or brogues and I think Ted Baker has the edge on the brogue front. I have four pairs and this pair is my favourite, very hard wearing, with tough soles yet so stylish.

Where do you like to shop?

Locally, in places like Harvey’s Menswear in Sevenoaks, who have an amazing accessories section, including beautiful silk pocket squares. For jeans I go to The Gas Station in Sevenoaks and Oxted, and my jackets and waistcoats I mainly buy online. My current favourite is Marc Darcy, who makes stunning silk-lined tweed jackets and waistcoats well under the £80 mark. n
