A special evening of music was held to celebrate the life of Reg Howard, a well-known and respected big band, dance and jazz drummer from Southport who died unexpectedly from a heart attack.

The evening was organised by family and friends, determined to keep his memory alive through a charity campaign called Heart4Heart providing lifesaving defibrillators at the Fleetwood Hesketh Sports and Social Club, in Southport. Reg was a club volunteer for over 17 years and the local community, including muscians and singers, helped to raise £2400.

His daughter Michelle Howard, spearheading the campaign, said: ‘Dad was such an inspirational, charismatic and wonderful man. Having a defibrillator in the local community may have just saved his life, and I so hope that we can help others.’
