Each year the High Sheriff, supported by Kent Community Foundation, recognises individuals and organisations across Kent whose work has particularly impressed him or her during their year in office. At a ceremony in County Hall, William Alexander presented his 2016 awards to three charities West Kent Extra, Unlock and Kent Search & Rescue, as well as three dedicated individuals, Nikki Dennington, Malcolm Whitelaw and Tim Cronin, who contribute to educating offenders in Kent’s prisons. Challenger Troop, the Blue Plaque Group in West Malling and the emergency services partnership, which screens a hard-hitting driver safety film, Licence to Kill to thousands of Kent’s youngsters, also came in for praise and High Sheriff Awards.
