Christmas with the Churchills

Head over to Chartwell this festive season to experience how the Churchills celebrated Christmas at their family home, with the grounds and house beautifully decorated with twinkly lights and Christmas trees.

Intrepid kids can seek out Santa Hats hidden around the grounds or take a stroll through the gardens, with bright lanterns to guide the way.

Tudor extravaganza

Step back in time to celebrate a Tudor Christmas at Ightham Mote this year with festive music, twinkling lights and seasonal scents inspired by the rich and colourful history of the property.

The Great Hall will be set out for a lavish feast, and the beautiful Tudor Chapel will be fully adorned for the Season; hear the music of Tudor England and immerse yourself in the celebrations. With a roaring fire, wandering musicians, carols and choirs, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

This festive season at Scotney Castle, you will step back 100 years to the dazzling glitz and glamour of the Roaring Twenties. Sip on cocktails and marvel at Christmas trees, feather boas, and flapper dresses on display.

In the gardens, you’ll find a fabulous family trail with a special prize. Enjoy the illuminated mansion and festive decorations after dark at the twilight events in the week before Christmas, where our shops and tea rooms will also be open for any last-minute presents and festive goodies.

Big, friendly giants

Take a trip to the Orangery to find ‘The BFG in Pictures’ exhibition featuring illustrations by Quentin Blake. While adults will love the nostalgia, kids will delight in the pictures and activities, including dressing up and games. In the historic palace, warm yourself by a roaring fire in the Great Hall and explore some of Knole’s historic showrooms adorned with festive displays.

Outside, enjoy a walk around Kent’s last medieval deer park, and the little ones can follow the parkland trail with a prize at the end at £5 per trail (pre-booking recommended).
