Washburn Valley Reservoirs
The delightful Washburn Valley is Yorkshire's very own mini-Lake District, an often overlooked gem bequeathed to us by generations of water engineers who created a string of reservoirs stretching from the high moors above Nidderdale almost to the doorsteps of Leeds and Bradford. his walk takes in the lowest of the quartet - Thruscross, Fewston, Swinsty and Lindley Wood - before climbing to a high ridge with glorious panoramic views and some modern additions which may strike a more jarring note.

Blackstone Edge Reservoir
The overall feel of this South Pennines walk remains one of huge skyscapes and vast open spaces both of moorland and water as it takes in no fewer than five reservoirs along the way (six if you count the second visit to Blackstone Edge) but the price for such broad vistas is that often the horizon is adorned with either columns of pylons marching across the heather or windfarms in almost every direction.
