It was shades on and mallets at the ready at the Cheshire Polo Club near Tarporley for the annual National 4 Goal, Victor Ludorum Championship hosted by returning sponsors Parfums de Marly.

A glamorous crowd gathered for the exclusive event which began with a champagne drinks reception before guests enjoyed lunch in the marquee.

When it came to the polo the competition was even hotter than the climbing temperatures but the afternoon's main draw was the final match between A.W.Jenkinson and Clinova, both vying for the prestigious Junior County Cup.

The thrilling match, for one of the most sought-after cups of the season, was watched by 195 luncheon guests as well as spectators and club members.

Afterwards, between further glasses of fizz, the winning team A.W.Jenkinson was presented with the Cup by Kanchan Tooray on behalf of sponsors Parfums de Marly.

George Smith was named the Most Valuable Player and Best Playing Pony went to Lolita owned and ridden by Charlie Walton. u
