The idyllic Barton House Garden will open on May 24 as part of the National Gardens Scheme
The garden at Barton House is an idyllic 6 ½ acre green space with its own Secret Garden, featuring profuse camellia, and the fragile Magnolia delavayi that flowers only one day a year. There is also a vineyard and free wine tasting, a 550 year-old Spanish Chestnut tree, abundant Rhododendron & Azalea, Rose, Japanese & Victorian Kitchen Gardens, picturesque views from Buddha-flanked rhododendron slope to Long Compton Church where St Augustine preached in 497AD, as well as home-made teas and plants for sale.
Children go free, whilst adult admission is £5; money raised goes towards Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Hospices UK and the Carers’ Trust.
