England’s footballers may have had little to celebrate this summer but Bunbury’s annual Village Day had a Brazilian theme which had everyone in the party mood.

The event included a procession through the village – not quite on the scale of the Rio carnival – followed by fun and games on the playing fields.

And while the current crop of England players were struggling in Brazil, Earl Barrett, who won three caps in the early 1990s, kicked off proceedings in Bunbury.

Committee member Andy Davis said: ‘It was a great day and we were really pleased with how it all went.’
