This Halloween the National Marine Aquarium is creaking open its doors to give visitors an eerie night of tricks and treats. On Saturday 29th October, those brave enough to come, will be transported around the Aquarium in the dark of night learning about all the sea-faring ghost stories the murky depths have to offer
The Halloween themed Family Fright Night will be an evening of ghosts, ghouls and ocean myths starting at 6.30pm and running to 10.30pm. Families will be able to enjoy a creepy array of activities including; petrifying pumpkin carving, terrifying trick or treating and fearsome face painting, as well as a terrifically frightening Fright Night Show. Visitors are invited to wear their most fearful fancy dress costumes and prizes will be given for the best and bravest outfits. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £7 for children.
Sarah Pickup, Host Supervisor at the National Marine Aquarium, said: “We’re planning two nail-biting events for our visitors this Halloween to really show them a different side to ocean life, with experiences they won’t forget. On the Friday evening we’ll be hosting a special Sleeping with Sharks event that promises to be a terrifically terrifying treat for all. Families will experience a new side of the underwater world as they spend the night with sharks swimming silently overhead.
“Following this on the Saturday evening, our Family Fright Night will give visitors a taste of the more creepy aspects of life in the ocean. As we take them on a tour through the Aquarium telling them the tales of the sea, there will be opportunities to get involved in Halloween themed activities. Both events are perfect for any parents looking for new ways to give the kids a fright this Halloween.”
The Halloween events at the National Marine Aquarium will be a combination of entertainment and education, the two evening events are geared towards giving families a greater understanding of the marine environment and how we all have a part in helping to keep it safe.
