Have you ever walked through a picturesque village, gazing in through the windows of the beautiful houses wondering what lies behind the garden gates?

Great British Life:

Well for only one day each year the award winning village of Fletching opens over 20 of its private gardens to the general public so that you can see, be inspired and talk to the owners and gardeners. This year the day for your diary is Sunday 22nd June.

Great British Life:

The Fletching Garden Trail has been the main school fund raising event, now in its 22nd year, and this year is a very special year as Fletching CEP School is celebrating its 190th Anniversary. The staff, pupils, governors and PTA of the school are very grateful to the gardeners for their huge support in this venture.

Fletching is nestled in the magnificent countryside only a couple of miles from Sheffield Park National Trust Gardens and the Bluebell Railway.

The Garden Trail guarantees fun for all, including a treasure hunt for the children, a raffle with a glorious Gardeners Hamper and other fine prizes. Some of the gardens have featured in national publications so it promises to be a visual treat. The Village hall will be stocked with local companies selling an eclectic mixture of their wares from cards and gifts to local cheeses. There will also be an opportunity to purchase some plants in the school playground.

The popular local artist Lorna Holdcroft BA Hons will be positioned at Atheralls Farm demonstrating her artistry and raffling off a beautiful piece that she has recently completed.

This year another exciting feature to be part of the Garden Trail is the Wealden Astronomy Group, usually based at the Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux, who will be on hand to give an insight into amateur astronomy and will be giving visitors the opportunity to observe the Sun through the societies Solar Telescopes (weather permitting!).

One of the gardens, ‘Stroods’, hosts a ‘pop up’ cafe serving delicious light lunches, refreshments and home-made cakes throughout the day, all set in an idyllic location. Mr T’s delicatessen will also be offering a warm welcome.

All of this for just £6 per adult and no entry charge for children. Tickets should be purchased on the day from the school playground. Our brochure includes a map to help you navigate your way around the village.
