Giffords Circus has announced that all proceeds from the closing show of their 2017 tour, Any Port In A Storm, will be donated to the Ebony Horse Club charity based in Brixton, London. All sales from tickets to the 5.30pm performance on Sunday September 24 2017 at the circus’ HQ, Fennells Farm, near Stroud will support the charity chosen by Giffords Circus co-founder, Nell Gifford.

“I grew up with horses and have always enjoyed their companionship in my life,” said circus producer and skilled horsewoman, Nell Gifford. “It is wonderful to witness the pure joy that our horses bring to people and it seems fitting to choose a charity that share our values. The work that Ebony Horse Club undertakes makes a real difference to young people’s lives and we are proud to support that.”

Ebony Horse Club is in the heart of Brixton, London - one of the most disadvantaged inner city neighborhoods in the country. There is an historic legacy of underachievement in schools, high rates of teenage pregnancy and negative stereotypes of young people, gang violence and drug related crime.

Young people living in this environment have little or no positive contact or interaction with animals, especially horses. They miss out on the opportunity to experience the enjoyment and sense of achievement that can be gained by learning to ride or caring for these animals.

Ebony Horse Club provides the opportunity to think and gain new experiences outside the box of negative stereotypes and to benefit from the powerful, life-changing influence that contact with horses can bring.

“We offer much more than riding lessons, mentoring children who experience significant challenges at school and at home - challenges that can profoundly affect their ability to achieve later in life. We are delighted to have been chosen as Giffords Circus’ charity for 2017,” said Linda Hinds of Ebony Horse Club. “The money raised will help support young people and encourage children to exceed their expectations and maybe even pursue horse-related careers.”

As a registered charity, Ebony Horse Club’s activities rely entirely on the generosity of donations from individuals, grant giving trusts, foundations and corporate organisations.

Giffords Circus’ charity performance will take place on Sunday September 24 at 5.30pm at Fennells Farm, Lypiatt, Stroud. Tickets are priced at £27 for adults and £17 for children age 3 – 14; under 3s go free if sitting on a lap. This includes a hog roast for which donations can be made. All proceeds from this performance go to the Ebony Horse Club.

To book tickets for the remaining tour dates and the final charity performance, visit the Gifford Circus website or the Box Office on 0845 459 7469.
