A ladies lunch helped to raise £1,125 for Stockport based charity, Retrak, who work to transform highly vulnerable children’s lives and empower communities in Africa and South America.

The event was organised by Gill Lee of Greater Manchester Police, who the charity partner with, and sponsored by Slater & Gordon, Boo Consulting and Sundays Beauticians, Prestwich.

Gill is one of 15 volunteers who will be visiting Retrak’s project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in November to work on DIY projects, conduct education, sports and art sessions and carry out training to the Ethiopian police in relation to trafficking and slavery. Held at the Andrew Nutter’s gastro pub, The Bird at Birtle in Bury, 50 ladies enjoyed champagne on arrival and a three course meal, before a raffle was held. Entertainment was provided by Sandra Scattergood from Scattymusic, who played the saxophone throughout.
