Louis Smith, one of Britain’s greatest ever gymnasts, entertained guests and members at The Village Gym in Cheadle when he visited to officially unveil their new £1 million facilities.

The Olympic medallist - and Strictly Come Dancing winner - chatted about his love of gymnastics, his silver medal success at London’s 2012 Olympics on the pommel horse and how he’s preparing for the Rio Olympic Games this summer. He even demonstrated a few of his acrobatic tricks and Strictly dance moves.

Louis toured The Village Gym which has over 3,000 members who enjoy the 25m heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, fitness and aerobic studios. It’s also equipped with the latest Technogym equipment, a spinning studio with Star Tac kit and there are classes to suit all shapes and fitness levels.

Louis took part in classes and compared notes with some of The Village’s personal trainers and coaches who specialise in different aspects of fitness, weight loss, muscle building, and sports specific exercise as well as a sports therapist who looks after people with disabilities, stroke rehabilitation and other brain injuries.
