Dormy House Hotel has secured a culinary ‘dream partnership’ by teaming up with an internationally renowned Michelin-starred chef to help develop its new menu.

John Wood has been appointed as Food and Beverage Consultant at the luxury hotel near Broadway ahead of its highly anticipated re-opening in August. John will be working with Dormy House Head Chef Paul Napper to perfect a range of exciting new culinary concepts.

During the hotel’s £10m refurbishment, the duo will be working in the award-winning kitchens at Stratford-upon-Avon College after a unique partnership between the Dormy and the college.

Farncombe CEO Andrew Grahame says, “The arrival of John brings a fresh creativity and something of a culinary dream partnership to Dormy House, where the food has always been a particular strength.

“Over the next few months, Paul and John will be working to create new menus that reflect the abundance of good produce on our doorstep in the Vale of Evesham.

“We’re also particularly pleased that they will be working at Stratford-upon-Avon College as this further reflects our support for all things local. Our Head Chef Paul believes in using only the finest local produce and recruiting the best local talent for his kitchen, so linking-up with a leading catering college which is less than 20 miles away fits perfectly with this philosophy.”

The Dormy’s new menu will focus on fine dining with ingredients and flavours from the region, as well as fruit, vegetables and herbs grown on the Farncombe Estate.

Food consultant John has an impressive background working both nationally and internationally at some of the best establishments in the world. He has achieved a Michelin star, four AA Rosettes and eight out of 10 in the Good Food Guide.

His experience running successful and innovative kitchens and restaurants includes The Savoy, The Dorchester, The Grove and Cliveden, where he gained his Michelin star. John’s career has taken him to Europe, Asia, South Africa and Dubai, working in 5* establishments as well as the 7* Burj-al-Arab hotel in Dubai.

After working as a chef for over 25 years, John set up his own consultancy allowing him to apply his experience and knowledge to improve all aspects of food and beverage operations.

John says, “Dormy House has had a superb reputation for quality and style over the years and this major refurbishment will take it onto an even greater level. The food and beverage offering is going to take on a new lease of life and we have some very exciting ideas planned.

“Paul Napper is an exceptionally talented and dedicated chef and his desire to not only source local produce but local talent is fantastic. This is by far one of the most exciting renovations in the UK for 2013 and I am proud to be part of this development.”

The hotel will reopen to guests in August and remain open while work continues on the House Spa, which is due to launch in early 2014.
