The gloves were on in Macclesfield when the Boys’ Boxing Club (MBBC) celebrated its 10th anniversary at Wilmslow Leisure Centre. The voluntary organisation, which aims to continue to develop young people as competitive boxers, works with the local community to try to keep membership fees low so as to encourage youngsters from all backgrounds.

An enthusiastic audience watched 13 well-matched bouts, arranged through MBBC Head Coach, Kevin Bradbury. Those in attendance included the Mayor of Macclesfield, Councillor Lloyd Roberts, and his wife Viv, and several professional boxers including British Flyweight Champion, Shinney Bayaar and president of MBBC, Super Bantamweight Liam Hanrahan, who fought for the club as an amateur.
