Batman, Optimus Prime and Indiana Jones were among 216 guests who attended Ollie’s Army Superheroes Ball at the Hallmark Hotel And Spa, Handforth, Wilmslow.

The event was held to raise money to support the care of five-year-old Ollie Carroll and his sister Amelia, three, who have both been diagnosed with Late-infantile Batten Disease, a rare incurable illness.

Over £33,000 was raised on the night, with proceeds also going to help fund research into Batten Disease. Guests enjoyed an evening of excitement and entertainment until the early hours, including over 100 raffle prizes, comedian Darren Farley and music from the Dotty Crochets.

One of the organisers, Nikki Ashwell, said: ‘The success of the night was then compounded when the very kind Tony Wooderson from Crystal Living generously offered to match the funds raised in the auction. We cannot get over the kindness and generosity of all those who attended.’
