Stockport Town Hall hosts special occasion

Stockport Symphony Orchestra’s 40th anniversary year got off to an harmonious start with a commemorative concert attended by 400 guests.

The audience at the event, which was held at the Orchestra’s home of Stockport Town Hall, enjoyed a pre-concert reception with complimentary fizz. This was followed by the Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Linda Holt, cutting a birthday cake and some lively entertainment from a string quartet.

The concert programme, conducted by Mark Heron, included a wide range of performances including the first symphony the Orchestra played in 1977, Tchaikovsky’s 5th.
