Celebrity chef Simon Wood and Jean Christophe Novelli academy chef Mike Harrison cooked up a storm at a gourmet evening at The Bridge Hotel, Prestbury.

The sell-out event, attended by 90 guests including Coronation Street stars Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson, began with a champagne reception and canapés, followed by a five course fine dining menu.

Dishes included a burrata and tomato salad with pistachio and lovage pesto, served with a shot of gazpacho, and cured cod, sweet leeks and pickled fennel.

After dinner, the chefs took questions from The Bridge managing director, Lawrence Sykes, and members of the audience. Simon, who won Masterchef in 2015, did a signing of his new cookbook, At Home with Simon Wood.

Lawrence Sykes said: ‘Our second gourmet event was a great success and we received much positive feedback from guests. We’re in talks with a very high profile celebrity chef to attend our next gourmet evening with the date to be confirmed.’
