Two hundred guests gathered for the launch of a new book at the Mercure Hotel in Bowdon. Nigel Green, an historian from Bowdon, launched the first of a two book series, The King’s Dogge.

The book is set in the 15th century and throws new light onto the character of King Richard III – whose remains were excavated from a car park in Leicester in 2012. Among the guests present were the Lord Lieutenant of Manchester, Warren Smith and the Mayor of Trafford, Dylan Butt. BBC presenters Becky Want and Felicity Goodey also attended, alongside Olympic athlete Diane Modahl.

Nigel was previously CEO of PZ Cussons. Since retiring in 2006 he has devoted himself to writing and co-founded the ‘Make It Happen In Sierra Leone’ charity.
